Norton, one of the most famous brands in the antivirus industry, has been playing the game since 1991. In the first half of 2007, Norton’s share of the antivirus and security suite market was 61%, making it the most recognizable name in the computer security industry. Despite their success in the market, they are heavily criticized by the media, and because they have such a high-profile name and such widespread software, any bug made by Norton will cause a lot of trouble. Norton is known for his complex uninstallation process, as his removal tool removes only some aspects of the product and leaves others behind, but should this affect your choice of antivirus software?
Reliability and Security
Given Norton’s expertise in antivirus and computer security, you should have a high quality malware removal tool that has no performance problems (a failure of such critical software may mean the end of your computer). Unfortunately, expectations do not necessarily correspond with reality with Norton’s antivirus product. During antivirus tests, Norton Anti-Virus often identifies fully compliant software as dangerous. If used, this means that the software may mark your existing, perfectly safe software as a threat to your security, otherwise rendering the harmless software unusable. (If you follow the recommendations of the software and quarantine the software).
Detects and removes malicious programs on your computer, such as viruses, adware and spyware.
Spyware secretly keeps track of what you do on your computer. Its purpose is usually to collect passwords, bank details and credit card information.
Identify sites that are safe and secure. Block websites and malware downloads.
Block Phishing Websites
Block fraudulent websites that are designed to steal your personal information, usually after you click on a fake email.
Real-time protection runs in the background, constantly monitoring the system and blocking malware before it reaches the hard drive.
Advertising programs are malicious programs that automatically display or download adware, such as banners or pop-ups.
VPN Internet Security
Surf online anonymously and safely. Encrypt your Internet connection so that hackers cannot intercept your data.
Define your own scanning schedule for system viruses, including the locations to be scanned.

Value For Money
At $49.99 per year for 5 devices, Norton’s leading anti-virus product is inexpensive, to say the least. Although most people don’t need all 5 licenses, this is useful for protecting both your phone (Android or iOS) and your main computer. I warn you that at the end of the original term, you will be charged almost twice what you originally paid, $80 (Norton says the renewal cost is “subject to change”, which basically means you can install it at any price before the renewal. This gives the impression that Norton will charge much more than the $49.99 down payment at the end of the first year). For your money, Norton offers a 100% guarantee that your device(s) will be virus-free or you can get a refund. Interestingly, the warranty is not to keep your device(s) clean, but simply to “help” keep it clean. We believe that Norton offers a good value for money because its features keep the price low.
Support and Customer Service
Norton customer service is often confused, and there have been many cases where “security experts” from Norton have told users that their computers are infected and need repair. Of course, there has never been an infection, and security experts charge the user for “repairing”. We have never felt so “cheated” by Norton, but we were not impressed. It’s not easy to get to a point where you can talk to someone from Norton to get help. The best way is to go to the “Contact” page. When you get there, you will be offered support in “live chat”, which is a great way to offer and get support in the antivirus market. In addition to live chat, Norton offers support over the phone. However, it is annoying that you have to fill out a form to get a number to call. In situations where you need help, you may already be unhappy. If you then had to browse their website just to find a way to communicate with them, it would bother you even more. Keep that in mind when you’re making a decision about Norton.
